Looking back, I realize the seed that grew into the Empowerment of Positive
Thinking began years ago. My unhappiness was the fire of passion that thrust me into my life's work. I had a thirst for knowing what it felt like to love and to be loved. My life had been glued to an emotional, rock-littered road, jammed with twists and curves of painful memories. For decades I let the mantra, "I'm not enough," own me.

Though I wrote and published a book of raw, tell-it-like-it-is poetry, From Silhouette to Sunlight (Winston-Derek, Inc.), and wrote and performed a one-woman show,Vignettes From a Woman's Life, I still experienced an emptiness.
Because of that, I went on a personal journey that turned out to be a 25-year odyssey. It took me through dozens of workshops, therapies, and spiritual treks, and though it was filled with adventure, my feelings of disappintment persisted.

Because I wasn't getting what I wanted to get, how to forgive myself, I decided to become my own teacher. It felt right.

Out of desperation I began writing phrases. I wanted the words to release my war of hurts. The phrases flowed like hot lava burning out the coals of discontent. I read these phrases daily and after a month or so something incredible happened. My heart opened and I experienced, for the first time, the taste of love. Though I had had a deep conflict with my mother for most of my life, all of a sudden forgiveness was easy for both her and myself.

It was such a life-changer that I decided to create Positive Thought cards for other women.

I wrote Free To Be Me, A Life in 32 Minutes, in January of 2011. It is a continuation of my personal struggle and the challenges associated with it. This update, of Vignettes From a Woman's Life, is about becoming conscious through the adventure of living. Free To Be Me has taken a lifetime of personal and spiritual voyages before it was ready to be put down on paper.

Ultimely, it has to do with the gift of Self-Forgiveness.
